9 Lives Reviews

I lost a lot of money here and wound up with inferior mixes. Nicola doesn't care about you as an artist. He's strictly about the money and wants you out of there as fast as he can get rid of you. I made a huge mi$take when I chose 9 Lives. $20,000.00 gone and I have nothing to show for it. I would have stopped sooner if I had known that I would be excluded from the mixing process. How does he fix the problem? Sends me my files and tells me to do it somewhere else! I already paid for hours just to come in and mix. He zeroed out everything and did whatever the hell he wanted to do expecting that I will take whatever he gives me because I supposedly don't know any better. He was very wrong! Yeah...Love while he's collecting your cash until you want to and paid to participate in the mixing of your own music. Then there is no love...only Nicola's ego. Be sure to get a written agreement and receipts so you can sue later. Too important to answer his phone. This turned into...

Two Types Of Rock Musicians

Type 1: Wants to get rich Wants to be the next big thing Wants to get laid Type 2: Wants to make music
Today is a very special day for me. It is a day when I want to thank my family and friends for being so supportive in helping me to accept who and what I really am. Even as a child in my play pen, I had these strange feelings. My grandmother recognized it when I was as young as two years of age. My mother realized it when I was eight. It has been a burden on my life, and it has hindered my growth and happiness. It affected my school attendance since I thought it was a cause for being bullied. I dropped out of high school because I wanted to pursue the lifestyle and I found it difficult to do so in a school environment. Wondering where I am going with this? Well, here it is. Today I am finally free! Today my friends, I am coming out...or in...or whatever it is. I am a blatant and incurable heterosexual! When I was a boy, we didn't have Drag Queen Story Hour at the public library, so I was deprived of the yearning to wear my sister's clothes or my mother's shoes. Consequentl...

Five reasons why album releases are still the way to go (CD Baby)

In a world of streaming playlists, some artists seem to have abandoned albums entirely. Instead, they just drop an endless succession of singles. But here are five reasons why I think album releases are still a valuable strategy for emerging and niche artists: 1. More PR opportunities Artists generally release numerous singles each year, but an album only every few years. Even modern fans raised on singles know that an album release is a big deal, so play it up! Releasing an album is the perfect excuse to go big on your marketing. 2. A way to mark your musical evolution An album is a new chapter in your musical journey. Look at the Wikipedia page of any artist with a deep discography, and you’ll see their career history marked by album releases. Albums are a major creative statement and a line of demarcation from your previous work—especially if you’ve only released singles up to now. 3. Higher visibility on streaming platforms Spotify, Apple Music and the other major streaming p...
