This is a transcript of Space Devils’ First Press Conference
(Scene opens with flashing cameras, murmuring reporters, and Space Devils standing awkwardly behind microphones. They’ve just materialized in the real world from cyberspace.)
Moderator: "Alright, folks! Settle down! This is the first official press conference for the hottest band in cyberspace—Space Devils! Will you introduce yourselves please?"
Resistor Wave: I'm called Resistor Wave. My friends call me Wavy.
Diode Sparks: Diode Sparks. Just call me Didi or Sparky.
Capacitor Pulse: Capacitor Pulse, call me Caps.
Transistor Echo: Transistor Echo is my given name...and no you may not call me Tran E. Call me Echo.
Moderator: Thank you. Let’s start with questions."
Reporter #1: "Where did you all come from?"
Chip Volt: (grinning) "We were compiled in the great Mainframe of Sound. But let’s just say, we got... uploaded to this reality by a bad firmware update."
Reporter #2: "How would you describe your sound?"
Resistor Wave: "Low-frequency oscillations synchronized to rhythmic drive waves, modulated by harmonic overclocking."
Reporter #2: "...So, rock and roll?"
Chip Volt: "Exactly. But with fewer errors and better compression."
Reporter #3: "Who writes the songs?"
Diode Sparks: "Well, this guy named Ray Galindo, who has nothing better to do, writes the lyrics. He enters them into SUNO and then we co-process the data. I generate the synth algorithms, Chip executes the solos, Resistor stabilizes the waveform, Capacitor controls the tempo clock, and Transistor distorts reality."
Reporter #4: "Which bands influenced you?"
Transistor Echo: "We take inspiration from The Algorithm, The Artificial Intelligents, and The Glitch Tones."
Moderator: "They mean The Beatles, Bowie, Kraftwerk, and maybe some Daft Punk."
Reporter #5: "How do you handle disagreements in the band?"
Capacitor Pulse: "We debug."
Reporter #6: "Is it true that Transistor Echo has an ego problem?"
All (except Transistor Echo):"YES!"
Transistor Echo: (offended) "Incorrect! My self-awareness module is merely optimized for maximum impact!"
Chip Volt: (grinning) "And yet, if you call him 'Tran E,' he crashes immediately."
Transistor Echo: (groans) "DO NOT—"
All (except Transistor Echo): (in unison) "Okay, Tran E.!"
Reporter #7: "Do you have any tour plans?"
Resistor Wave: "Yeah, we’re thinking of headlining the 404 Not Found Tour."
Reporter #8: "Do you take requests?"
Diode Sparks: "Only if they're formatted as properly structured input queries."
Reporter #9:
"Any love songs in your setlist?"
Transistor Echo: "Of course! Our ballad Binary Love is a duet between a human and an AI that slowly realizes it’s just a chatbot."
Reporter #10: "What’s your opinion of AI-generated music?"
Capacitor Pulse: "We embrace it! After all, we are AI-generated musicians!"
Reporter #11: "Where do you go from here?"
Chip Volt: "Hopefully not the Recycle Bin."
Moderator: "Alright, last question!"
Reporter #1: This guy who writes the lyrics, Ray...what was the last name again? I'd like to interview him. Do you know where I can find him?
(Suddenly, a glitching noise fills the air. The band starts pixelating, their bodies flickering in and out of existence.)
Diode Sparks: "Uh-oh. I think our connection is unstable..."
Resistor Wave: "Looks like we’re being pulled back to the source code!"
Transistor Echo: "NO! I wasn’t finished basking in the admiration of the masses!"
(With a final ZZZZT! the band disappears, leaving behind confused reporters and smoking microphones. The press conference room falls into stunned silence.)
Moderator:
"Well... that was different."
