Type of show: Song Competition
Objective: Pair an unknown original song with a performer to create a hit song. America votes!
Categories/Genres 1. Pop/Rock and subgenres 2. Country/Blues 3. Gospel 4. Jazz/Showtune 5.Folk/Americana/Multicultural 6. Commercial Jingle ~ written for a sponsor
The Songwriters/Composers: Five (5) Songwriters/Composers are competing two (2) songs each in any genre. Songs are submitted to a committee that listens to and selects the songs for the competition. The selected ten (10) songs are reviewed by a panel consisting of industry professionals such as producers, music supervisors, A&R, etc.
Performers: Ten (10) Winners, five (5) male and five (5) female from shows like America's Got Talent, American Idol and The Voice. Unlike in these shows, the performers are not judged or eliminated - the songs are. The performers are eliminated only when their songs are and only because the songs were eliminated. The performers may perform in multiple genres, however there must be one male and one female performer in each genre. This will organically result in different pairings. This could be interesting.
Band: Hire skilled union musicians and rehearse the selected songs
Judges/Producers: A panel of five (5) legendary and award winning songwriters. Some examples: Alice Cooper, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Bootsy Collins, Bruce Springsteen, Carol King, Chaka Khan, David Lee Roth, Gene Simmons, James Taylor, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Lionel Richie, Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Roberta Flack, Robert Plant, Sly Stone, Steven Tyler, Sting, Each judge produces two performers, one male, one female in their genres of choice
